This is a new project and adventure for Tommasi Viticoltori, a viticultural family company from Valpolicella (Veneto), which is run by the 4th generation. Founded in 1902, with vineyards extending over 135 hectares, Tommasi Viticoltori is a renowned ambassador of Amarone and Ripasso.

 

Doganella is located in the heart of Maremma Toscana (Tuscany), in Pitigliano an important Etruscan city in the province of Grosseto - 150Km north of Rome, 30km from the Tyrrhenian Sea - and near Poggio al Tufo, the other Tommasi family estate (66 Hectares) in Maremma.

The microclimate is typical of this area of Southern Tuscany: a hot and dry climate, with little rainfall in the summer and temperate breezes throughout the year from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea.

Many herbs such as rosemary, thyme, lavender and broom grow wild here; hints of which can all be found in the wines aromas.

The balanced sunlight, the soft rolling hills and the volcanic soil rich in tuff stone, represent the main characteristics of the quality of this area perfect from which to obtain very good grapes, and therefore excellent wines.
